The ocean, covering approximately 70% of the Earth's surface with an average depth of 3,800 meters, offers unique environments not found on land, such as extreme temperatures and high pressures. These conditions support a remarkable diversity of organisms that have evolved to thrive in a wide range of habitats.
Our research focuses on microalgae and cyanobacteria, which possess a wide variety of functional properties. Utilizing our extensive microalgae culture collection, we identify strains capable of producing valuable compounds. Our goal is to elucidate the mechanisms underlying their production and enhance their productivity through genetic modification.
