TUAT delegation visits Universidad Autonoma de Chapingo











On January 26th, 2015, a TUAT delegation headed by Vice-President Kazuhiro Chiba was received by the Chapingo Autonomous University (UACh) Rector, Dr. Ramon Valdivia Alcala. UACh is TUAT's sister university since 2010 and has been exchanging professors and students actively; TUAT is currently receiving two UACh students through its Short Stay Program.

This visit was part of MEXT's Enhancing Development of Global Entrepreneur Program (EDGE Program) and a lecture and workshop were held at UACh. 25 people among students, professors and staff participated in the activities and presented their business plans. Students who suggested the best business plan will be invited to participate in the Ecosystem Forum to be held at TUAT in May 2015, and present their business plan.

Apart from the workshop, representatives from both universities met in Texcoco, Mexico to discuss about further exchanges of faculty members and students in order to enhance the collaboration work in the innovation field.

TUAT expects to welcome students from UACh in the coming years for research and graduate studies and Rector Valdivia also expressed the will to implement a strategy to increase Mexican students’ interests in Japan and Japanese language studies. He hopes to send UACh finest brains to TUAT who will be able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in Japan for the improvement of the agricultural fields in UACh.

At the meeting, UACh was represented by Rector Valdivia, J. Guadalupe Gaytan Ruelas, (Eng., Director-General of Academic Affairs), Raul Reyes Bustos (M.Sc., Director-General of Cultural Diffusion and Services), Domingo Montalvo Hernandez (M.Sc., Director-General of the Board of Trustees), Alejandro Barrientos Priego (Ph.D., Director-General of Research and Postgraduate Studies) and Ms. Magadelna Sanchez Astello (M.Sc., Subdirector of Academic Support).

And from TUAT, represented by Vice President Chiba, Dr. Tsutomu Arie (Professor of Graduate School of Agriculture and Trustee), Mr. Takao Nitani (Professor at the Innovation Advancement Organization) and Mr. Takeshi Kashiwa (PhD Candidate specialized in Phytopathology) also participated in the meeting.
