Training for Environmental Data Acquisition and Assessment

“Training for Environmental Data Acquisition and Assessment” was held on 12-15, 20-22 and 25-26 in October. This domestic training is a "basic pair" with overseas field training, uniquely-coordinated by FOLENS program. We learned how to collect field samples, how to evaluate the obtained data as well as measurement technique to ground ourself on the actual field places.

The main contents were soil sampling procedure and heavy metal analysis (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb and other), river investigation (flow discharge) and water quality determination (pH, EC, antibiotic substances, anions, E-coli and coliform density), and visit of sewage treatment plant. The participants, including students and stuffs, were from diverse study background, thus we learned each other's method and way of thinking. Moreover, we recognized that there are several means of procedure even for identical target and so it is important for us what procedure to adopt. It might have been true that those diverse background of the participants made it open feeling to talk about "such a simple and basic question”. (HO)
