The Third-Year Student Lab Assignments Have Been Finalized

The lab assignments for third-year students have been finalized. Three students joined the lab this year.

I met with the newly assigned third-year students and we decided on their research themes. Right away, they also helped with our year-end lab cleanup. It was a packed day: morning seminar → a small welcome lunch → year-end cleaning → welcome party.

Since we didn’t manage to do year-end cleanup last year, this was the Shoji Lab’s first full year-end cleanup.

We cleaned the floor thoroughly and applied wax as well. Thank you for your hard work over the half day.

At the welcome party in the evening, we had temaki sushi and Chinese fried rice. A lot of effort went into the fried rice: the rice was cooked the day before and chilled in the refrigerator, and we used plenty of Chinese sausage and homemade chicken fat.
