We aim to elucidate and exploit how small RNAs called PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) recognize “non-self”. Currently, we are studying the relationship between piRNAs and intracellular symbiotic bacteria and the phenomenon of piRNA self-organization, using a combination of bioinformatics and molecular biology approaches. For more details, please see Research Activities. In addition, Shoji Laboratory is recruiting members. Graduate students, working PhDs, Gakusho PDs, etc., please contact us even if you just want to talk to us.
