Concerning the On-line Handwriting Database
TUAT Nakagawa Lab. HANDS-kuchibue_d-97-06-10

The on-line handwriting database TUAT Nakagawa Lab. HANDS-kuchibue_d-97-06-10 (hereafter, this database) is a reduced version of an original collection HANDS-kuchibue_d-97-06 collected by Nakagawa Lab., Tokyo University of Agri. & Tech. (TUAT). This database consists of on-line handwritten character patterns from 10 writers out of 120 writers of the latter for a sample text excerpted from Japanese newspapers, covering Japanese, Chinese, Latin/numeric characters, and other symbols.

The database is available for research purpose according to the conditions of use as given below.

The environment that this database is accessed needs to support a Japanese character code system and font. Please note that all the manuals are written in Japanese at the moment and we cannot respond to each request to translate them. We hope that you can ask someone in your group who can read Japanese. The database assumes MS-Windows environment. The IPBD library is for Windows. From 2002, the database is available in an ASCII text format. Alternatively, The database is now also available in the western Unipen format (ASCII) which is free from the Japanese code environment.
