Admission Process and Applications

Inbound

Students interested in applying, please inquire at AIMS Program Office in your home university, or through the international relations office. You will have to go through screening process at your home university as we only accept applications from the offices of ASEAN Affiliated Universities.

Tuition

In principle, eligible students will be exempted from tuition fee charged at all universities under this agreement between three Japanese universities and the member ASEAN universities.

Credit Transfer

AIMS Policy requires that students be given credits for subjects studied in this scheme. From the subjects available in this program, students will be able to take 12-18 credits. It may vary between universities but our partner university will award minimum 12 credits.

Accommodation

Room will be provided by Host University where the student will attend classes for the 15 weeks.
Note: Daily lunch/meals are the students' responsibility. .

Financials

Cost of airfare, visa, monthly living allowance, health check-up and health insurance, academic fees associated with the program are under the responsibility of home government. Administration office at home university will provide you with these details.

Visa Applications

Students will be required to obtain a “Student Visa” from the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in their home city. Please secure your student visa before coming to Japan. The respective offices of Japanese Host Universities will issue a “Letter of Invitation” in advance to certify your academic status in order to assist prospective students with their visa applications. For further details please enquire at the Embassy of Japan in your country.

Outbound

Applications

To be completed at home university, all necessary documentation will then be submitted to host university. Please download necessary forms from the host university above. Selected applicants will be recommended to host university for further consideration.

Financials

Cost of return airfare, visa, monthly living allowance, health check-up and health insurance, academic fees associated with the program are under the responsibility of home government. Please ask Contact Office at home university for more details.

Tuition

In principle, students of AIMS program will be exempted from tuition fee charged at host universities. Collaboration agreement between three Japanese universities and the member ASEAN universities provides for such guidelines.

Visa

Students shall apply for their visa at respective country's embassy in Japan. The respective offices of Host Universities abroad will issue a "Letter of Acceptance" in advance. Your home university office will help you apply for visa.

Passports

Students must hold valid passport with expiry of more than one (1) year from date of entry into their host university. Some country may require 6months only…. Please check.

Health Insurance

Outbound students must hold valid travel/health insurance covering their AIMS program period.

Arrival and Orientation

Home university will coordinate communication with host university to ensure proper pickup from airport. The host university is responsible for airport pickup. Students will follow academic rules and guidelines of the host university.

Academic Activity

Students will enroll in courses at their host university as instructed by home university.

Credit transfer

It may vary between universities but your home university will award minimum 12 credits equivalent for a standard One Semester of studies in Japan. Please confirm with your home university office as university requirements differs between Japanese local standard.

Accommodation and transportation

Room will be provided by Host University where the student will attend classes for the 15 weeks.
Note: Daily lunch/meals are your own responsibility.
Transportation from accommodation to university is included.
