Research Interests

What is THz? Simply speaking, THz is the frequency range in which the wave has both features of the electromagnetic wave and light. THz wave travels straightforward as light, and meanwhile passes through many materials as electromagnetic wave. Due to this unique property,THz wave have attracted tremendous interests from both scientific research and commercial applications.
The research in Zhang lab focuses on the physics and applications of semiconductor micro/nano structures in the THz frequency range. We use THz wave as a powerful tool to explore the novel physics and device principles in semiconductor nanostructures, such as quantum dots, single molecules, and etc. We also develop novel high sensitivity and fast THz thermal sensors by using MEMS/NEMS resonators.
