SentientArtefact (2003-)


このプロジェクトでは，イス，マグカップ，歯ブラシ，ドア，鏡といった普段我々が使用している日常物（Everyday Artefact）を利用したデジタル世界との自然な関係構築を目指しています．


技術の発展により，デジタル世界が大量の情報を蓄積したり，高速処理して時間や場所を問わずに提供することが出来るようになる反面，それらをどう使いこなすかが課題となってきます．しかし，全てにおいて利用者が自ら指示を出すのでは，とても処理が追いつかなかったりわずらわしさを感じることになります．したがって，何らかの方法で，「適切」なタイミングでサービスを享受する必要があります．このように，システムが利用者の置かれている状況を把握していることを「コンテクストアウェア（Context-aware）」であるといいます．


コンテクストの取得には様々な方法がありますが，特に，日常物の使い方を通して自然に得られる利用者の状況（コンテクスト）をシステムの入力とするために，様々なセンサを利用して拡張する試みを行っています．





私たちは，このような日常物をSentient Artefactと呼んでいます．そして，複数のSentient Artefactから得られたコンテクストを用いてより抽象度が高いコンテクストを抽出したり，曖昧さの解決に利用することを考えています．また，タスクの改善に見られるようなusabilityの向上だけでなく，使うことで楽しさや安心感といったpleasurabilityの向上も目指しています．
