Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology
Invitation of Applications for Tenure-Track Associate Professor

Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) invites applications for ten (10) tenure-track positions at the rank of Associate Professor in the Global Innovation Research Organization. TUAT is interested in candidates who are committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities. The appointee will be provided with an independent laboratory and startup budget with fewer duties on the administration and lecture side. He/she will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in his/her area of expertise. There will be two evaluations at the 3rd and 5th years after the appointment. If the outcome of the evaluation indicates that the appointee has made promising or significant research, he or she will be promoted to the status of a tenured position. Annual salary is the same as tenured faculty members as shown below. TUAT is an equal opportunity employer with a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of diversity among its faculty and staff.

1. Back Ground Information
TUAT has been actively promoting the system of tenure-track and encouraging young researchers to establish themselves as promising researchers. Tenure-track faculty members are provided with freedom to pursue their own research and also receive prioritized support in facility and budget according to our promotion rule and system. To enable the candidate to concentrate on their own research for a certain period tenure-track faculty members are burdened with less administration duties. Tenure-track members are also open to collaborate with established professors when they need. We continually examine and review the tenure-track system so that they can continually produce distinguished research results and be promoted to tenure positions not just at TUAT where we prepare corresponding posts for them, but also in other universities, since mobility among universities is very important.
